Stephen Fingleton is a writer-director born in Northern Ireland.
He studied English Literature at University College London and began shooting his film films with the UCLU Film Society, whose alumni include Christopher Nolan.
He was selected by Screen Daily as a 2013 Star of Tomorrow, described as “hotly tipped” by Variety and the Irish Independent named him as one “14 names to watch in 2014”. Stephen was one of 16 filmmakers chosen for the BFI Lighthouse short film scheme, which funded his short film SLR. The film starred won Best Irish short at the Foyle Film Festival and was shortlisted for an Oscar.
His screenplay THE SURVIVALIST was voted onto Hollywood’s Black List topped the UK Brit List for the year’s best unproduced scripts. After directing a prequel to the film called MAGPIE, Stephen recently completed production on THE SURVIVALIST with The Fyzz Facility producing with support from the BFI and Northern Ireland Screen. The film is due to premiere in 2015.
